eSnips and The Rest of Us

Right now I'm looking at eSnips, which offers up to 5GB of space for you to upload Whatever (a term I prefer to "content"). On its index page eSnips mentions video, poetry, humor, painting, photography, "DJs" and "spiritual" among a pile of other communities gathered around the various uploadable arts.

On the index page it says, Upload anything — Share your photos, videos, links, music and documents Promote — Drive traffic to your site Promote and sell your work Start Communities — Join a social site around your interests and passions While it's not my cup of Whatever, I can see it working nicely for those of us who want to share stuff but aren't up for blogging or podcasting or otherwise focusing singly on video, audio, photography or some other subject. More importantly, there's that stuff in the second panel, under Promote: sell your work. That's a welcome relief from advertising-only business models for services like this one. (Though eSnips has advertising too.) To unpack that a bit, look at markets as places where these three things happen... Relationship

You don't have to belong to point to stuff you like. Like here I'm pointing to Aurora Bourealis, one of Sonjas paintings, put up by lilje_570 several hours ago, this page tells me. (I do like the painting, by the way.)
